Cosmetics & Personal Care Packaging
Industry Overview
Cosmetic packaging is visually demanding. Bottles need a clean surface, good transparency when required, accurate neck finish and consistent colour. Extrusion blow molding is suitable for producing these bottles efficiently when the product shape and material have been defined.
Common Requirements
- Good surface appearance
- Accuracy on neck thread / finish
- Compatibility with cream / lotion
- Decorative effect possible
Typical Materials
- PETG — transparent
- PP — semi-transparent
- HDPE — opaque, chemical resistance
Typical Products
Perfume / Cologne bottles
PETG with complex shape, good clarity
Lotion & cream jars
PP, accurate wall and neck
Shampoo / body wash bottles
HDPE with flip-top cap interface
Cosmetic sample containers
Small format, short production runs
Machine Recommendations
Typical KSY machine configurations used for cosmetics containers:
Small machine, single / double cavity, accurate parison control.
View Details →For larger cosmetic bottles, jars, handleware.
View Details →Production Note
PETG gives better transparency but requires drying before processing. For HDPE cosmetic bottles, use a grade with low warpage and consistent colour dispersion. Confirm additive compatibility with your product filler.
Food & Beverage Packaging
Industry Overview
Food containers must be safe, clean and reliable under filling and transport conditions. Blow molded bottles are widely used for edible oil, milk, juice, sauces and dry food. Machine design should allow easy cleaning and a hygienic layout.
Common Requirements
- Food-contact compliant material
- Consistent neck finish for cap seal
- Stacking strength in some formats
- Resistance to filling temperature
Typical Materials
- PP — hot-fill
- HDPE — dairy, water, juice
- Multi-layer with barrier
Typical Products
Dairy bottles
HDPE milk and yoghurt containers
Juice / beverage bottles
Multi-layer barrier bottle
Sauce / condiment bottles
PP squeeze bottle
Edible oil containers
PP / PETG
Machine Recommendations
Typical KSY machine configurations for food and beverage containers:
Medium output, suitable for juice, sauce, dairy.
View Details →Wider platen for larger bottles, edible oil, water.
View Details →Hot-fill note
For products filled above 80°C, PP is often selected because of its higher heat resistance. The container should be designed with expansion panels to reduce deformation during filling. Confirm the exact filling temperature with your packaging line.
Medical & Pharmaceutical Packaging
Industry Overview
Medical bottles must meet strict cleanliness and dimensional requirements. The blow molding machine itself should have a layout that is easy to keep clean. Material choice is often driven by the final sterilisation method and the product contained.
Common Requirements
- Neck finish accuracy
- Clean surface
- Resistance to sterilisation
- Documentation of production
Typical Materials
- PETG — clarity, gamma compatibility
- PP — autoclavable
- HDPE — standard pharma bottles
Typical Products
Medicine bottles
HDPE / PETG tablet and liquid bottles
Specimen containers
Leak-tight PP cups
IV solution bottles
High purity containers
Diagnostic packaging
Small precision containers
Machine Recommendations
Typical KSY machine configurations for medical containers:
Small precision bottles, clean layout, accurate parison.
View Details →Medium size, suitable for solution containers.
View Details →Material / sterilisation note
For gamma-sterilised PETG containers, confirm the exact dose with the resin supplier. For autoclave applications PP is commonly used. Always run validation trials on final container design before production.
Chemical & Industrial Packaging
Industry Overview
Chemical containers face strong detergents, solvents and sometimes long outdoor storage. The main resin property to watch is Environmental Stress Crack Resistance (ESCR). HDPE grades with medium to high molecular weight are commonly selected.
Common Requirements
- High ESCR
- Stacking / drop strength
- Resistance to fill product
- Consistent wall distribution
Typical Materials
- HMW-HDPE (high ESCR)
- PP for selected chemicals
- Carbon-black compound for UV
Typical Products
Jerrycans 5 – 20 L
with handle, stackable
Lubricant bottles
1 – 5 L, good oil resistance
Detergent containers
up to 10 L, ESCR critical
Industrial drums 20 – 60 L
heavy duty
Machine Recommendations
Typical KSY machine configurations for chemical and industrial containers:
Medium size, good for jerrycan / drum production.
View Details →Larger platen, suitable for wide containers.
View Details →Material selection note
For containers holding aggressive chemicals, choose an HDPE grade with a suitable ESCR value. Carbon black masterbatch can be added for outdoor UV exposure. Confirm chemical compatibility and UN performance requirements before production.
Industrial Parts & Components
Industry Overview
Blow molding is an efficient method for producing large hollow parts. Compared with injection molding, tooling cost is usually lower and the machine can form complicated internal shapes in one piece.
Common Requirements
- Impact strength
- Dimensional stability
- Load-bearing capacity
- Low-cost tooling
Typical Materials
- HDPE — high impact
- PP — stiff, light
- ABS — engineering
- TPU — flexible
Typical Products
Toolboxes / storage cases
with integrated hinges
Pallets / dunnage
load-bearing HDPE
Large containers
50–200 L
Custom industrial parts
ducts, tanks, housings
Machine Recommendations

For large hollow parts, adding external ribs in the mould can improve stiffness without increasing wall thickness. This reduces material use per part.
Automotive & Transportation Components
Industry Overview
Blow molded parts are found throughout a vehicle — from washer fluid reservoirs to air ducts. These parts are usually not visible, so the priority is function, reliability and cost.
Common Requirements
- Heat resistance in engine bay
- Resistance to washer fluid / coolant
- Good vibration endurance
- Consistent wall thickness
Typical Materials
- HDPE — water / air reservoirs
- PP — ducting
- PA — under-hood high temp
- TPU — flexible ducts
Typical Products
Washer fluid reservoir
HDPE with pump interface
Air intake duct
PP, complex curved shape
Coolant expansion tank
high temperature PP
Fuel system component
HDPE / multilayer if required
Machine Recommendations
Typical KSY machine configurations for automotive parts:
Compact machine, good for medium-size parts.
View Details →Wider platens, higher clamp force.
View Details →Fluid compatibility note
Always confirm material compatibility with the fluid that will fill the part. For fuel systems, a barrier layer or post-treatment may be required. Discuss the intended application with your resin supplier before finalising the mould design.
